Services

NCYC offer a range of services based around the research-results and know-how of NCYC personnel:

Identification Services:

The NCYC provides a full service for identifying yeasts using either; standard chemotaxomomic analysis for full physiological profiling, or DNA sequencing for rapid species identification. More?

Yeast identification (Chemotaxonomic)- per strain: £250
Yeast identification (by DNA sequence analysis)- per strain: £200
Isolation and purification (if required) - per strain: £80

Deposit of Cultures For Patent Purposes:

The NCYC is an International Depository Authority (IDA) under the Budapest Treaty and as such can accept yeasts, other than known pathogens, for patent purposes. More?

Deposit for 30 years under the Budapest Treaty: £440
Furnishing of a sample in accordance with Rule 11.2: £82

Confidential Safe Deposit Service

The NCYC will maintain proprietary yeast strains on a confidential basis; such cultures are available exclusively on the instructions of the depositor. NCYC will use deposits to verify the authenticity of strains in use. More?

Annual standard Safe Deposit storage fee (includes 2 free slopes of strain/year): £205
Initial standard Safe Deposit Accessioning fee (one-off fee): £40
Annual Premium Safe Deposit storage fee (includes DNA Fingerprint check and 2 free slopes/year): £325
Initial Premium Safe Deposit Accessioning fee (one-off fee): £50
Furnishing of a sample: £82
Yeast contaminant identification by DNA sequencing: £200

Authentication of Saccharomyces cerevisiae Strains:

NCYC has developed a system for rapid identification of individual yeast strains, based on the amplification of repeat sequences within the genome of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Yeast cultures from manufacturing processes can be checked for purity, and performance by comparing with deposited samples and checking for genetic drift. More?

Per sample analysed: £250

Please contact the Collection manager for further details before sending cultures.

Consultancy and Contract R & D:

The NCYC conducts ISO 9001-accredited yeast research on a strictly confidential contract basis with companies and other organisations. Contracts may be for either a defined piece of short term work or for long term research collaboration. NCYC has a variety of research based skills associated with the identification and characterization of yeasts and in screening a wide diversity of yeasts for cultures with particular attributes of value to industry or research.
